Play Gaelic Football in London
(http://london-gaa.blogspot.com)
Playing gaelic football
in London has been around since the inception of the GAA itself,
and although the London Gaelic Football team has never won an All-Ireland
title, the sport itself is alive and well in the English capital.
As you can imagine the London Gaelic football team is made up of
players from all over Ireland who base themselves in London and
the players selected for the London Gaelic football squad are chosen
from the many clubs right across London - there are approximately
26 Gaelic Football clubs in London at the present time, although
there were many more in years gone by.
The London Gaelic Football
scene is divided into 3 championships (Senior, Intermediate, and
Junior) and 3 League divisions (Division 1, Division 2, and Division
3). Currently, the Cuchulainns Gaelic Football team are in
the Intermediate Championship and League Division 2, but with great
strides being made in recent years (notably the Intermediate
League Champions 2003, and Junior Football Champions of 2000 &
2008) we are closing in on our goal of playing Senior
Championship football in the next couple of years.
So if you're looking

in London for one of the best and friendliest London GAA clubs and

The London Gaelic football
team itself take part in the National League and All-Ireland championships
and this year (2005) almost pulled off a great trimuph over Roscommon
in the All-Ireland championship, only to be defeated by one point
in the end - that game was played at London GAA headquarters in
Ruislip, North West London. So you can see there is great potential
for things to happen with the London squad in years to come and
by taking part and playing gaelic football in London for a competitive
London club like Cuchulainns.
So join in on the action
while you're based in London, whether you're here for just a few
months, a few years, or for the longterm - whether you're from Antrim
or Armagh, Limerick or London, Kerry or Kildare, Tipp or Tyrone
or elsewhere in Ireland. We've had players from every county
in Ireland join our club over the years so come and make us
your home club while you're in London. Cuchulainn Abú!!
We've even had a few
Aussie Rules blokes join us as well from time to time - they weren't
too bad either, I have to say! So if you've got any Aussie mates
lying about getting up to no good, bring them on down to the Cuchulainns
and we'll sort them out for ya!
All the Best for Now
Sláinte
