Club Reviews

"The craic and the history at Cúchulainns is second to none - and one of the few London clubs to boast both a Hurling and Football team. With many past and recent successes including the London Intermediate Football League Champions of 2003 we're confident of even greater success in the future!"

Eddie Naughton
Chairman

"We've been in existence since 1932, one of the longest running clubs in London GAA history and we're immensely proud of that tradition and aim to carry on the successes of the teams that have gone before us. SE London GAA is alive and well and living at Cúchulainns!"

John Byrne
Player

All-Ireland Hurling Roll of Honour

All-Ireland Hurling Finals 1887-2007

Since the GAA was founded in 1884 and the beginning of the All-Ireland Hurling Championships in 1887 there haven't been that many different counties that have won the prestigious title of All-Ireland Hurling Champions as the game of hurling has always been very region specific, mostly being played in Munster, Leinster, and Galway - although every county has a hurling team it's only really the Munster, Leinster, and Galway teams that have any real hope of winning the All-Ireland Hurling Title.

However, the new 3 Tier Structure of the All-Ireland Hurling Championships began in 2005 is aimed at developing the standards of hurling in the weaker counties by giving these teams something more concrete to aim for in the Christy Ring and Liam Rackard trophies with promotion to the main All-Ireland Championship to compete for the Liam McCarthy Cup being their ultimate aim. It is thought that this new 3 tier structure will increase the interest in playing hurling in the weaker counties as well as developing their competitiveness over time. It's certainly a step in the right direction!

Below you will see the complete list of All Ireland Hurling Finals from the very first in 1887 right up to the present day. But before that let's list out the number of All-Ireland Hurling Titles that the counties have won starting with the most successful and working down. As you can see the majority of All-Irelands have been won by the top 3 counties - Cork, Kilkenny, and Tipperary (often referred to as the traditional hurling counties).

If you combine the total number of All-Ireland Gaelic Football titles won with the total number of All-Ireland Hurling titles won Cork would be on top with 36, Kerry would be second on 35, Kilkenny are third on 30, Tipperary are fourth on 29, and Dublin would be fifth on 28. These five counties account for the majority of All-Ireland Senior Gaelic Football & Hurling titles and it's a safe bet that they'll never be caught up by any other county.
